Yaris Cross - Toyota's new compact SUV
Toyota's new model is located below the C-HR, based on the Yaris hatchback with a smaller size.
On April 23, Toyota unveiled a new small SUV model named Yaris Cross, located under C-HR. In the European market, Yaris Cross becomes the third member of the Yaris family besides the Yaris hatchback and GR Yaris. It competes with rivals such as Ford Puma, Nissan Juke, Renault Captur.
Developed on the basis of the new Yaris TNGA-B, the small-sized SUV is resized. The wheelbase remains the same at 2,560 mm. Compared to the standard Yaris hatchback, the Yaris Cross is 240 mm longer at 4,180 mm, 20 mm wider and 90 mm taller.
According to Carscoops, the Yaris Cross is like a miniature RAV4, with the same front end, muscular wheel arches. Toyota's new small SUV has two-tone design, Brass Gold's exclusive color option with 18-inch wheels, and other sporty details.
The interior space of the Yaris Cross is more spacious, thanks to a larger size than the standard Yaris. The second row of seats can be folded 40:20:40. Optional rear trunk open power. The luggage compartment floor is adjustable, or split into two separate sections, with cargo reinforcement straps.
Yaris Cross is also the first small SUV model of the AWD drive segment, combining a hybrid engine (petrol-electric) including a 1.5-cylinder petrol engine combined with an electric motor. Gasoline engine efficiency is about 40% when in front-wheel drive mode. If the sensors detect poor grip, the AWD system will start and help the driver handle when it rains, snow or sand.
Total capacity is 116 hp for a small SUC model for urban. According to the manufacturer's announcement, CO2 emissions are less than 120 g / km in FWD mode and 135 g / km in AWD.
Toyota Yaris Cross is produced in conjunction with the Yaris hatchback at the Valenciennes factory in France. The Japanese automaker plans to produce 150,000 cars a year and will sell in Europe in the summer of 2021.
