US presidential candidate favors Bitcoin

Florida governor pledges to protect Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies if elected in the 2024 White House race.

"I think people should be allowed to use Bitcoin. If I become President of the United States, I will defend the right to use things like Bitcoin," Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said on May 24 when announcing his candidacy for US president. .

Mr. DeSantis has repeatedly expressed support for decentralized digital currency, saying that this field contains many dangers but people can make their own decisions. "I don't want to control everything in this area. If the current government continues for another four-year term, Bitcoin will definitely be wiped out," he said.

Earlier this month, Mr. DeSantis asserted that all measures to control cryptocurrencies should be passed in the US Congress and opposed any ban that may be introduced by the agency.

The governor of Florida is considered a rising star of the Republican party and a formidable opponent of former US president Donald Trump. One of his advantages is his youth, when he was just over 40 years old.

Mr. DeSantis once said that there are three people to look forward to at the moment including him, President Joe Biden and former president Donald Trump, but said that Mr. Trump has no chance of being elected.
