Introducing Intel Xeon Platinum 8280 PROCESSOR CPU with the title of the most powerful Xeon series
More specifically, it is the Intel Xeon Platinum 8280 processor with the title of the most powerful Xeon series. Currently, the Xeon Platinum 8280 chip is the model used on the latest server. This CPU owns 28 cores, 56 threads, bringing the lowest clock to the machine at 2.70
The Intel Xeon Platinum 8280 is a 28-core, 56-thread CPU that has pretty much everything Intel can offer in this generation. With 2.7GHz base clock and 4.0GHz boost, 38.5MB cache and 205W TDP. It is one of the halo products for the Intel LGA3674 socket and has security mitigations for side channel variants built in.
That's mostly because there are two SKUs that sit on top of the standard Intel Xeon Platinum 8280, the Xeon Platinum 8280M and the Xeon Platinum 8280L. The three chips are essentially the same, except that if you buy a chip with high core frequency/frequency to run memory-intensive tasks, the standard Platinum 8280 will only handle 1TB of RAM. One needs to upgrade to Platinum 8280M to support 2TB memory and Platinum 8280L for up to 4.5TB of memory.
