September is usually the time when Huawei launches the Mate series flagship, but the company has not announced anything about the launch date of the Mate 40 Series.
A few recent leaks by leaker @DigitalChatStation have revealed that this year's Mate series will come in three variants including the Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro +.

Sources from the supply chain also confirmed that the standard Mate 40 will only have 1 front camera. While the two higher-end versions will have dual selfie cameras and the Mate 40 Pro will use IMX588 and Sony's ToF IMX512 sensors.

The source said that the Mate 40 Series will have the main sensor of the Sony IMX700. This is the 50 MP sensor found on Honor 30 Pro +.

The layout of the camera cluster will still be circular, the Mate 40 Pro will have a total of 4 rear cameras, the standard version is about to cut down a bit to only 3 cameras.

According to some speculations, the Mate 40 series will use Kirin 9000E and Kirin 9000 processor.

In terms of screen, the Mate 40 will be equipped with a 6.67-inch screen provided by LG, supporting a 90 Hz refresh rate. The rear camera consists of a main 50 MP sensor, a 20 MP ultra-wide lens and an 8 MP telephoto camera, and supports laser focus.

The Mate 40 Pro and Pro + will have a curved edge overflow screen, using both LG and BOE panels and a 90 Hz refresh rate.

The main camera also has a resolution of 50 MP but is integrated with liquid lens technology (which is explained to significantly improve the anti-shake feature).

The battery of Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro + will have capacities of 4,300 mAh, 4,600 mAh and 5,000 mAh respectively. The phone will run on EMUI 11 (on Android 11) and use Huawei Mobile Services (HMS), without Google services.
