Apple Silicon reveals that the 12-inch MacBook will likely launch in 2020 with the A14X processor
The A14X processor is based on Apple's ARM architecture, which is expected to be integrated on the next generation of iPad Pro and 12-inch MacBook. And it will go into mass production later this year, according to a report from DigiTimes.
The report claims that Apple will begin production of 5nm processors starting in the fourth quarter of 2020, through traditional partner TSMC. It is expected that the company will produce 5,000 to 6,000 wafers (semiconductor discs) per month.
According to sources, Apple's 12-inch MacBook will use the A14X processor, based on the A14 chip that will be used in the upcoming iPhone 12 models. Codenamed "Tonga", the A14X processor will also be found in the next-generation iPad Pro. Both will most likely be featured at Apple's 'Time Flies' event on September 14.
Rumors also suggest that Apple may release an ARM-based MacBook Pro this year. However, some have suggested that Apple is only planning a slight refresh for its MacBook Pro lineup in 2020, with the release of a 16-inch model and still paired with Intel CPUs. .
The first Apple Silicon processor is said to have 12 cores, including 8 high-performance cores and 4 energy-efficient cores. In terms of performance, the leaked preparation score shows that the A14X when paired with the Intel Core i9-9880H scored 7480 points on Geekbench 5. Battery life is expected to be enhanced as well with 15-20 hours of use between charges. .
It's not yet clear when Apple's first Apple Silicon Macs will arrive, but the company previously confirmed at WWDC 2020 that its first ARM-based MacBooks will ship before the end of the year. It's worth the hope, isn't it?
